The Mori Contemporary Art Foundation announces with great sadness the passing of Mori Yoshiko, Chairperson of the Mori Contemporary Art Foundation, on December 23, 2025. Mrs. Mori, who died from pneumonia, was 85 years old.

Together with her late husband, Mori Minoru, founder of the Mori Art Museum and Chairman of the Mori Building Company, she opened the Mori Art Museum in 2003. For more than two decades since then, she devoted herself with great passion to contemporary art, and as the museum’s founding Chairperson, it was her joy to contribute to both the international development of the museum and contemporary art in Japan. She also had great hopes for the Mori Contemporary Art Foundation, which she established to support the sustainable future of Japanese contemporary art. We will carry forward her vision and remain committed to promoting Japanese contemporary art and international cultural exchange.

At this time, we would like to express our deepest gratitude for the kindness and support shown to us during her lifetime.
